How to read supplement facts

The label on a supplement pack follows a fixed order. This guide explains each part, so you can compare the pack in your hand with the facts on the product page.

01Serving size

The serving size is the amount the values are calculated for, for example one scoop or two capsules. Every number in the panel refers to this amount, not to the whole pack.

02Servings per container

This is how many servings the pack holds when used at the serving size. Multiply a per-serving value by the number of servings if you want the total in the pack.

03Values per serving

Each row gives an amount per serving, in grams, milligrams or micrograms, and sometimes a percentage of a reference value. Check the unit: 1 g is 1,000 mg. Where a column shows per 100 g as well, use it only to compare products, not to work out your intake.

04Ingredients order

Ingredients are listed from the largest amount by weight to the smallest. The first items make up most of the product. Added flavours, sweeteners and colours appear towards the end.

05Allergen line

The allergen line names common allergens present in the product, or handled in the same facility. If you have an allergy, read it before every purchase, as recipes can change between batches.

06FSSAI licence number

Food products sold in India carry a licence number from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India on the pack, usually a 14-digit number next to the manufacturer details. Check it is printed on your pack.

07Batch and expiry

The batch number and the expiry date are printed on the pack. Note the batch number if you ever need to contact us about a product, and do not use a product past its expiry date.

Directions and warnings are printed on the pack too. Follow the directions on the pack, and see our FAQ for common questions.
